Hello, Independently of my chosen locale/translation - it is impossible to rename the Wastebin place name to 'Trash' in Dolphin, it reverts it back to... (in my case) Wastebin. I can rename it to everything else that isn't the word 'Trash' (with capital T), all other variations like 'trash', 'TRash', 'TRASH' work as expected. Visual example here: https://i.imgur.com/4Scq5QM.gif Thanks in advance.
Trash is the default for US English, at least. Perhaps we should consider using Trash instead of Wastebin for UK/AU English translations? That way this issue would disappear.
I can rename "Wastebin" to "Trash" just fine with Dolphin 18.04. Can you quickly confirm that this issue has since disappeared?
Works for me too in 18.04. Let's call this fixed. Thanks so much for your diligent bug triaging efforts, Julian. It's very much appreciated. If you ever get bored with Dolphin, I could use a hand with the old KIO bugs: closing them or moving them to their new home at frameworks-kio.
Dolphin 18.04.1 on Archlinux here - the issue still persists for me. I'm on the en_GB locale if that matters. LANG=en_GB.UTF-8 LC_ALL=en_GB.UTF-8 LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 Being the original reporter I will re-open this issue. > Perhaps we should consider using Trash instead of Wastebin for UK/AU English translations? That way this issue would disappear. From my POV, it's not about the 'default' naming, but the possibility to set it to whatever you want. Regards.
After I have changed my locale to be exactly identical as mentioned in comment 4, I can now also reproduce this issue with Dolphin 18.04. I'll dig into it soon™. @Nate, thanks for your kind words :) I'll make sure to hop over to kio when I've got some time, but I really want to finish the UNCONFIRMED ones from Dolphin first (only ~130 left).
