Created attachment 105184 [details] kate desktop file Trying to execute some specific launchers (this is not happening with all launchers) freezes for a sec the plasma ui. This was discovered first with Latte and I tried to follow the codepath. Latte is using a bouncing animation when a launcher is clicked and at the same time triggers from libtaskmanager the activation of that app. (libtaskamanager is using KRun for this). There are launchers that freeze all the ui totally for 1-2 secs in the above case (in Tumbleweed, kwrite and kate launchers) I initially tried to add the app launching code that was using KRun inside a separate thread. I was hoping that this would be enough but didnt improve anything. Following this issue more, from other users and developers it was noticed that the same ui freeze is happening also for the plasmashell panels when the specific launchers are triggered I attach also the desktop files
