It would be nice to have dropdown menu for LCD filter settings. Light setting enhances sharpness on medium resolution displays. Currently to change this option you need to manually edit fonts.conf.
Is this different from the hinting settings?

I lacked certain information when suggesting this. Apparently the LCDFilter is only necessary for distros (like openSUSE) that use some ClearType subpixel renderer. Distros like Arch still use FreeType's own product, which doesn't struggle with color fringing and what's more toggling the lcdfilter is actually useless. Taking that into account, distros that need it should probably turn it on themselves.
