Description jgforbes 2017-04-01 13:38:33 UTC
Recent updates to Fedora 25 resulted in a blank desktop. The wallpaper is there; however, no other graphics are displayed on login.

Right clicking opens the menu; however, configure desktop tab opens a window titled Floder View Setting -- Plasma, but the window is empty or shows window that is behind it.

The mouse buttons work at the locations of the desktop icons and the taskbar.

More information:
]$ sudo kquitapp5 plasmashell
"Application plasmashell could not be found using service org.kde.plasmashell and path /MainApplication."

]$ sudo kquitapp plasmashell
kquitapp(5118): "Application plasmashell could not be found using service org.kde.plasmashell and path /MainApplication."

Can you run plasmashell from console and paste its output here?

(btw don't run kquitapp with sudo, it needs to be run as your user to find the dbus service on your session bus)
Comment 2 Rex Dieter 2017-04-01 22:19:03 UTC
and fyi, don't use 'sudo' with kquitapp
Comment 3 Rex Dieter 2017-04-01 22:19:25 UTC
(sorry, I missed the mention of that already)

I attached the output of running plasmashell after using kquitapp to stop it.
Comment 6 Nate Graham 2020-01-13 05:29:46 UTC
I don't suppose this happened again on subsequent upgrades?
