Description Mark 2017-03-24 23:46:33 UTC
Hi,

1. Open a couple applications till you have a full taskbar.
2. Now open an application that disables compositing.
3. Look at the taskbar. It's quite different for the tasks! It looks like the with of each task is smaller when compositing is disabled.

Note: i also see task items disappear when compositing is disabled. I have these apps open and they are visible in the taskbar:
- Chrome
- Dolphin
- Konsole
- MPV

If it put MPV in fullscreen (on another screen so that i can still see the taskbar) than only see these in the taskbar:
- Chrome
- Konsole

Where did the rest go to?

can you include screenshots please, it's a lot easier to understand what you're describing.

Also please note all your task manager settings.

Hmm, i swear i saw this issue when i reported it. Hence reporting it...
Now i can't seem to reproduce it. Weird.

Keep this open for a few more weeks please. If i encounter the issue again, i will update this bug. Otherwise i will close this on april 15th (and i will, I've set a calendar reminder for it)

Changing status

Here i am again.

This issue most certainly does occur! I've seen it twice since reporting it and it seems to happen when you open an app in fullscreen (thus get thrown back to software rendering for your desktop).

The downside is that i still cannot reproduce it. It happens "sometimes" and the effect is:
- Clock stops! It stays at one time and stays there forever till you (assumption) restart plasma
- Some tasks disappear

But again, i cannot reproduce it and it only seems to happen very rarely.

Feel free to close this bug if it's too rare of an issue. If you keep it open i will do my best to update it whenever i figure out a reproducible case.

This has been a multi-year issue (four? five?) where the panel window stops updating with compositing disabled on some drivers.
