Kmail gets stuck on different imap accounts with "retrieving folders 0%" message. when this happens, it becomes to view any email content for this account though there is a local copy.
I have the same problem. Kmail gets stuck multiple times a day on "Retrieving folder contents, Please Wait" and hangs. The solution is to kill everything Akonadi and Kmail related. Already downloaded mails can not be displayed, as mentioned by Farandole.
Forgot to mention the software versions I am using: 17.04.1-1
I am able to reproduce this bug trying to open an empty message, with nothing written in the message body and no attachment. Kmail keeps on "retrieving folder contents" even after changing message selection, until kmail is killed (simply closing kmail from the menu is not enough) and opened again. kmail & related libs from Arch linux (kde applications 17.04.2).
