Wayland doesn't always recover from standby successfully.  I instead get a blackscreen with a pointer that doesn't respond to input.  Its not possible to switch to any other terminals either as keyboard input doesn't work.

Probably the Drm backend. I'm currently working here on stuff related to standby, but I'm not sure if it fixes your problem. Hopefully it lands in 5.10 and then you can test again.

Otherwise this stuff is hard to debug, especially when it's related to wake up from standby.

This could be a case of bug #377152. If not fixed with Plasma 5.10 please reopen.
