Discovery doesn't show updates.  The end around is to manually select Check for Updates.  This is difficult for the casual users to handle.

Can confirm on KDE neon LTS User Edition 5.8 with Plasma and Discover versions 5.8.6. Expecting the updates applet to notify and show me new updates when available, but the applet always shows "System up to date", even if the system is actually not up to date, until I manually check for updates.

Also, the manual update check seems to sometimes require multiple checks before it shows the new updates.

Discover was really rough prior to about 5.10.x. Does this still happen with newer versions?
