Description yousifjkadom 2017-03-10 12:26:02 UTC
Hi.

Please add kindly ability to delete page(s). I suggest the following:

1) right click over a given thumbnail will bring right click list containing option "delete". This option "delete" if clicked will result in deletion of page belonged to this specific thumbnail.

2) right click over the page itself will result in right click list of options including option of "delete page(s)". Choosing this "delete page(s)" will bring a dialog within it has following options:

- delete current page
- delete all odd pages
- delete all even pages
- delete rang of pages like 6-34 determined by user.

Best.

Okular is not an editor (annotations are a bit different), so this is unlikely to happen.
Comment 2 Oliver Sander 2017-03-10 12:58:42 UTC
Is there a reason beyond lack of manpower why Okular is not an editor? pdf editing features would certainly be helpful, as there is no equivalent to Acrobat Professional on Linux.

It is been the scope of Okular forever: a viewer. Nothing prevents anyone else to write an editor which uses okular(part) for the visualization.

Okular is not an editor by the definition of what Okular wants to be.

An editor has a totally different workflow than a viewer, in a viewer the "page view" is the central view, in an editor, the "page list" is the central view so you can more easily move pages around, etc.

Doing an editor to do this is *extremely* easy with poppler, i had a structure of it years ago, but a stupid rm deleted it and since i don't really need it didn't feel like coding it again.

I'm not going to close this bugs as i stepped down as maintainer but my suggestion is to really start an app from scratch to do this.

I will close this issue because now we have applications can perform this in very nice way, like "PDF Mix Tool" which is available on FlatHub.

I am in favor of this request too and I don't think it should be closed.
Pdf mix tool seems very archaic in terms of UI, and why making another tool when everything could simply be done in Okular?
A simple right-click on a page in the page list to delete a page, or to insert pages from another pdf.
I don't think it would bloat Okular.
