Screen grab showing the issue

I have noticed this issue just recently.
There is some vertical footage that I want to use in a horizontal video.
The raw footage behaves as expected, but I want it stabilized.
When I run the stabilize clip job, and add the resultant .mlt file to the timeline, it truncates the horizontal video canvas into a vertical one.

The .mlt file also does not pass along the resolution of it's associated footage.
In the added attachment, you can see the .mlt file move the picture around the canvas of the preview clip, as it should. However, once it's on the timeline, the project preview is trucated and the footage does not move around.
I am unable to make it fit the width of the project, even by applying a zoom.

When I go into the clip properties of the .mlt file, it is all blank, so I can't even tell the program what resolution it is.

The .mlt file really should leave the canvas it is displayed on alone, as well as pass along the resolution of it's associated footage, so that the "fit to width" and "zoom to 100%" buttons work as normal in the position and zoom effect.
