Auto Hide Panel Frozen by Plasma Error Message

Reproducibility: Always
To reproduce:
Under More Settings, set Visibility to "Auto Hide".
Do something that causes a Plasma error message to be shown (e.g. create and open a new file, delete the file, then search for the deleted file in the Application Launcher and click the result).

Expected:
The error message window is displayed as usual, the panel hides itself and continues to work as normal.

Actual:
See screencap - the error message window is shown in the panel but is not displayed, and the panel freezes completely, making it unusable. Program windows that are already active continue to work, but it is impossible to access any other programs or anything else from the panel.
Comment 1 Marco Martin 2017-03-06 15:17:34 UTC
can't reproduce locally, can anybody else?
Comment 2 13hurdw 2017-06-20 04:34:50 UTC
Workaround is to go to the active screen corner, allowing user to access the error message window.
Comment 3 luca 2018-02-02 08:21:30 UTC
I can confirm with plasma 5.10.5 and frameworks 5.37.0.

I have to alt+tab and choose error msg window to unfreeze the panel

Comment 8 Heinrich Seebauer 2018-03-27 14:14:58 UTC
Can reproduce with 5.8.7, framework 5.32.0

Other workaround: use alt-tab to browse through your applications, the error message will show up in the list. One can select & close it.

Is anyone able to reproduce this with Plasma 5.17?
