Several brushes will only paint in a "blue-purple" color. Fiddling with the color selector does not affect them.
You're probably using the tangent-normal brush, where this is the intended behaviour: see https://userbase.kde.org/Krita/Manual/BrushEngines/TangentNormalBrush and http://wolthera.info/?p=774
"The Tangent Normal Brush Engine is an engine that is specifically designed for drawing normal maps, of the tangent variety. These are in turn used in 3d programs and game engines to do all sorts of lightning trickery. Common uses of normal maps include faking detail where there is none, and to drive transformations(Flow Maps). " Sorry, the above is as helpful as Windows Help files: It means nothing to me, Swahili, etc. This clearly DOES (won't let me underline that word instead of caps), clearly does paint in color, blue-purple. I don't know what faking detail means. If I paint this on top of something else, it just blots it out, just as any other paint would. Do ;you folks have a Primer for your Manual?? If this is too abstruse, don't use those brushes. Use other brushes. These brushes are meant for people who need this feature; you don't need it, don't use it! There are very likely more features in Krita that are weird or incomprehensible unless you urgently need them. That doesn't mean the features are buggy, though.
Created attachment 104357 [details] attachment-13228-0.html Oops, didn't mean to poke the bear. No, I just want to know how to make them work, including how to use the ones I don't understand. Is there another source of info that does not use technical terms to answer technical problems? Like, could it tell me exactly what "painting with surfaces", not colors, means? And how to access that, in terms of "go to this spot and click this/choose that option"? I love what I have been able to get the program to do and don't want to ditch the thing because I don't understand chunks of it. Much better to learn how to work with those tools. Hi, b-b1! You can find information about our brush engines in the official manual: https://docs.krita.org/Category:Brush_Engines On 04.03.2017 05:02, bugzilla_noreply@kde.org wrote: > https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=377146 > > --- Comment #4 from b-b3@juno.com --- > Oops, didn't mean to poke the bear. Created attachment 104360 [details] attachment-2457-0.html Hi, Dmitry, Thanks, but sadly, I barely understand a word of it. Is there a primer somewhere that can help me figure out what all the technical talk means?
