Wrong/confusing button label (German).
Comment 2 Gerhard Dittes 2017-03-01 18:51:03 UTC
...sorry, it seems that I accidentally saved my first comment (bug description) before being finished.

Now more in detail what's the problem:

After adding a device you want to connect, you get a message, informing you that the device is (still) unconnected/unpaired. You also see button, which gives you the ability to request the mentioned connection (or pairing).

But the button label is quite confusing as it tells you that the request is already in progress.

Unfortunately I've only the German version of kdeconnect available but I assume that the problem exists for other languages, too.

Please have a look at the attached screenshot. The solution (for the German case) would be:

"VERBINDUNG ANFORDERN" (instead of "VERBINDUNG ANGEFORDERT").

Thanks for this great software & regards, Gerhard

Can you please contact the German KDE Translation Team [1] and tell them about the issue? I think this is specific to the German translation and I don't speak German myself.

Hi,

after a short look at the German PO file, I can find the string

    msgctxt "pair_requested"
    msgid "Pair requested"
    msgstr "Verbindung angefordert"

which seems to indicate that the original string is already misleading.

Could you (the devs) please have a short look at the original string and confirm or deny this? Thanks.

It looks like the text is correct in English. Or are there some specific steps to reproduce the bug?

Maybe it was originally wrongly translated and the translation team has already fixed it, but the Android app has an old version of the text?

I looked into this a bit more and found out that this was fixed in out translation in December 2016.

I do not know about the release schedule of KDE Connect but time will heal this wound.

Thank you for reporting and also for bringing this to our attention. :)
