Description mkamp 2017-02-24 09:44:42 UTC
I am using basket 1.81 on Arch (antergos)

When I try to open a picture via the context menu right click > open or F9, basket complains that kolourpaint is missing which is in fact not installed

I would prefer to use GIMP which is set as standard on my system.

Expected behaviour would be that images are opened with in my case gimp or the standard application which is used when opening an image from dolphin.

Did you check the "Menu > Settings > Configure Basket..." dialog? It should have a section to configure default applications.
Comment 2 mkamp 2017-03-02 18:31:41 UTC
Yes in the meantime I've found that setting. Should have taken more time for that in the first place.

...never report bugs in a rush ;-)

I still would have expected basket to use the application set by the system as a default, but if that's not intended we can close the issue ...

Thanks!

I guess for many users, the system default for images is a viewer, not an editing application, so that would be a reason to check for kolourpaint first.

Still it should start the default if kolourpaint is not found. Keeping open for maintainers to decide.
