Hello, since version 5.4, digikam can not read metadata (Pentax K-5)and crashes regularly. Only at the pentax. Version 5.3 was Error-free. Greatings from Berlin Stephan

Note : read metadata is done by Exiv2 shared lib in background. Can you reproduce the crash with Exiv2 command line tool when you read a KF5 Raw file ? Gilles Caulier

No problem to open it into digiKam 5.5.0 pre version under MacOS : https://www.flickr.com/photos/digikam/32803742471/in/dateposted-public/ Metadata can be reas and DNG open in Editor. It's know a problem with Exiv2 about non latin1 char used in file path. Check this point, especially under Windows. Do you mean that 5.5.0 pre version work as expected for you ? The restriction with 5.5.0 for the moment is to not use the database vacuum/garbage collector feature implemented in Maintenance tool. It still not yet finalized. Gilles Caulier
