This fails in wayland (for example when starting with kdesudo kate) Error messages are: kdesudo(4501) KDESu::KDESuPrivate::KCookie::getXCookie: No X authentication info set for display ":1" No protocol specified QXcbConnection: Could not connect to display :1
As a possible workaround 'xhost +local:' command can be used - the error message about cookies is still displayed but app (tried with systemsettings5) is starting under kdesudo
