Description stu109382 2017-02-07 10:42:49 UTC
I find this a bit harder to describe.
It only apprears when I have an external monitor attached to my laptop. Then sometimes, maximizing a window will halt in the middle of the process and the complete monitor is no longer updated visually.
But everything continues without visual feedback. For instance hitting Ctrl+T in firefox will create new tabs, but the window does not change at all until I refresh it somehow.

I attach a video.

This is hard to replicate. I sometimes do not have the issue at all, but if it occurs once, it occurs all the time until I restart.
Comment 1 stu109382 2017-02-07 10:50:47 UTC
Screen recording of the issue:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/octfq580ozhe4kc/maximize-issue.ogv?dl=0

In second 12,22,44 the issue occurs.
44 it is very clearly visible. I open dolphin to refresh the screen. Afterwards everything continues normally.

At second 22 I use Show Desktop twice (I mapped it to Meta+D, similarly to Windows) to minimize and maximize everything again. In most cases this will bring back normal behaviour. But sometimes the maximize step will also halt mid motion.

Comment 7 Martin Flöser 2017-04-05 14:52:33 UTC
This might be a driver issue. The hardware is not really the newest and what the driver reports is rather uncommon. There is not many Intel devices reporting us OpenGL 2.1. This is something I find rather suspicious.

In case it happens again: please check also dmesg, /var/log/Xorg.0.log and /var/log/messages. It might be that you find some "hung gpu" messages there.
Comment 8 Christoph Feck 2017-04-25 17:16:49 UTC
The Intel 945 graphics was rather popular, nothing suspicious. Used the same configuration until 6 months ago.
Comment 9 kde.org 2021-11-06 18:19:06 UTC
This issue report is quite old. Can you please confirm, that it still persists with KDE 5.23?
