I think it would be good to have a feature where you can have vertical marker lines added to XY plot from file, kind of like colored bookmarks. The markers can be used to indicate an event at a specific point in time and have text associated with it. For example, you may be measuring temperature and the markers can be used to indicate when a heater was turned on/off.

Hovering over these markers would show the text associated with it. Different colors can be used to indicate different kinds of events. These could be a dialog for quickly going to a marker point with ability to filter marks by text.
