In moving to Krita 3.12, it appears that the ability to select gradient mapping as a filter layer or filter mask is now missing versus previous versions.  Gradient mapping is still available in the drop down menu but can only be used in a flattened image. This means that dynamic updates to the image can no longer be done.

Yes, this was turned off on purpose. It is because we cannot store gradients into a filter map configuration properly at the moment without causing crashes.
