Created attachment 103780 [details] Screenshot showing issue. Lookin Project Monitor for example. Should not be all white. I just tried to apply the Levels effect to a video clip (.mp4) in the Timeline. When I adjust the Black Input level, the Project Monitor shows the clip as entirely white. It should be adjusting the black input levels without white-washing the clip. Bug discovered while using: Kdenlive 17.03.70 via ppa:kdenlive/kdenlive-master Movit GPU enabled (though bug also happens with Movit GPU disabled) Linux Mint 18.1 64-bit (Ubuntu base) KDE Frameworks 5.18.0 Qt 5.5.1
I cannot reproduce, maybe this has to do with your MLT/freior/ffmpeg versions? Mine are: MLT 6.5 KDE Frameworks 5.30.0 Qt 5.8.0 FFMPEG 3.2.2 freior 1.4
@farid, did you try to increase the Input Black level above zero? FFMPEG 2.8.10 Frei0r 1.5 (via ppa:kdenlive/kdenlive-master) I created a new project (1080p, 29.97fps), added a clip to Project Bin, then to Timeline, then added the Levels effect and raised the Input Black Level (in properties widget) above zero. Same problem.

Same problem. Yes I changed the inputs of all values and it works as intended.
Appreciate you checking. I upgraded ffmpeg from 2.8.10 to 3.2.2 via a ppa for Ubuntu... but no fix. Problem still remains. Tried applying the Levels effect to .avi and .mp4 video clips. I tested further to change ANY of the parameters, but same result: a white-washed screen in the Project Monitor, and the histogram shows at the bottom-right side of the monitor screen.
UPDATE #1: It looks like trying to change the value of the "White output" parameter doesn't actually change it. Trying to slide the bar from one side or the other, or even type in a number value on the keyboard, doesn't change the White output value.

Check out my attachment.
It does seem to be working on Arch. Can you try to adjust the White output settings and let me know if the changes stick for you?

Check out the video I uploaded in the URL field of this bug. (Sorry, I'm not sure why there was flickering during the screen recording, but it shows the issue). The White output parameter doesn't seem to change.
Curious, are you running on a machine using Nvidia proprietary drivers?

I cannot reproduce either. Can you try updating your Kdenlive version from the PPA and check if issue is still here?
JB, sure thing. I'll keep you both posted.
I just tested from source (yes, I'm testing from source, now!), and the issue doesn't seem to be present -- everything works fine with the latest git build run from Qt Creator. Seems like the problem is with my one machine. Hmm... I'll test on my Mac Mini running Mint 18.1, tomorrow to see if the issue is on there.
I tried it on the same machine, again, and the problem seems to have disappeared with new projects. It could have just been something that was a glitch in the project file. I'll close this bug for now and re-open it if I can reproduce more consistently across other machines. Thanks for checking and for your help, guys!
