I use Okular 1.0.1.
Go File > Properties, Fonts tab.
You will see "Reading font information 100%" for ever, even after it is done;
and in both types of PDF: with and without embeded fonts.

After identifying fonts, please remove message  "Reading font information"

Confirmed with current git master on Debian testing.  It's a regression: the stock Debian version of okular behaves correctly.
