Hi, when hovering over an app icon on the icon-only task manager, the thumbnail frame pops up, even if there's no open window to show. Inside the frame, there's huge version of the app icon. I find this rather intrusive. Is this really necessary? IMHO that thumbnail frame should not pop up if there's no open window. Instead, a simple tooltip mentioning the application's name would suffice IMHO. Any chance you could change that? Regards
This is getting into "personal preferences" territory and getting a bit spammy for a _bug_ tracker. How about you get in touch with the KDE VDG team (e.g. #kde-vdg on freenode or Telegram channels, or maybe even better the section on KDE Forums) and contribute to the design process for these UI elements directly? Since you've shown a lot of interest in various aspects of this UI area, this is a much more efficient delivery channel to us imlementers (e.g. the 5.9 tooltip redesign work was done based on design mockups created by the VDG team).
(I'll also note I can't reproduce this however - there's a tiny icon in the tooltip for launchers and no tooltip area.)

Tested it with Plasma 5.9 now and still would not necessarily call it "tiny", but it's certainly better now. The report was about 5.8.5. Consider it solved for 5.9. Regards

I've received the update to KDE Neon 5.9.0 now and the icons in the thumbnail preview frame are smaller now, but they are mostly pixelated. The app icons for Dolphin, Firefox, Audacious, System Settings, Chromium, KGet, Konsole and many others are pixelated. I've found one app icon which is not pixelated: KMail. Most others are pixelated. It looks like they are very poorly scaled up or down or whatever.

I think this was an issue in IconItem that was fixed. Roman, I think you handled this?
By the way: This even happens on a standard 1920x1080 monitor when display scaling is set to 1.0 and force fonts DPI is disabled. So, it has nothing to do with display scaling or force fonts DPI.
Thanks for reporting. This was fixed by Kai. But it's a framework fix, which releases on Saturday. Closing as fixed. If you still have the issue after the new version of frameworks installed, feel free to reopen.
