Description Knut Hildebrandt 2017-01-25 17:39:41 UTC
Since the update to 16.12.0 Kmail runs very unstable and sometimes hangs. For instance it takes up to several minutes to open folders, both IMAP or local, mails get stuck during sending, IMAP accounts are not synchronized, to mention some of the problems. One or two problems not mentioned here got solved with the update to 16.12.1. Nevertheless Kmail still is unstable.

When Kmail seems to have hung again I usually restart aconadiserver. Since the update to 16.12.1 I regularly, but not always, get following error message:

$ akonadictl restart
FATAL: exception not rethrown
KCrash: Application 'akonadiserver' crashing...
KCrash: Attempting to start /usr/lib/drkonqi from kdeinit
sock_file=/run/user/1000/kdeinit5__0

Apart from that regularly this error message pops up:

$ akonadictl restart
Error in my_thread_global_end(): 1 threads didn't exit

The latter one usually is thrown when I restart Akonadi due to problems opening a folder or copying/moving mails between folders.

One question. Why when opening the bug report the version of Akonadi is given as 5.4 etc. Just checked it in the packet manager, there all Akonadi related stuff hast version numbers like 16.12.x etc.
