Hi,

In current master ( 5.8.95, soon to be plasma 5.9 ), testing the pin to activity in taskmanager, doesn't allow to choose the activity the icon is pinned to while it is not running. It does allow when its running, but not when running.

Some distributions and some apps, don't work correctly with taskmanager ( kmail for example and chrome apps in most distributions ( i know it works well on some though ). It is important to be able to configure the pin to activity while the app isnt running, or in those distributions/situations, it will be impossible to use it.

Also its easier to configure the pining without having to open the application.

Thanks !

I guess we might eventually add the per-activity submenu to the context menu of Kicker-based launchers.
Comment 2 Alexandre Pereira 2017-01-21 14:08:40 UTC
It would be extremely nice!

Thanks.

Right click menu does not include a "Pin" action.

Hello, I think that the issue I face is related to this one. When I search in the Application Launcher to find an application to Pin to the Task Manager, I don't have the option to do so. The only option I get is to "Open Containing Folder".

Please see attached file.

Perhaps adding the "Pin" option to this menu (the menu that appears on right click) could help solve the OP's issue as well.

I think this is because "waterfox" is just a file/binary search result, it's not a menu entry search result.

Alternatively, Pin for search result was actually only added in 5.11.x IIRC, if you're on an older ver perhaps.

No, I tested this on Plasma 5.12.1

I'm also seeing that there is no option to pin to task manager, when you search for kmail in the Application Launcher although you can pin Kmail Header Theme Editor application.
Maybe this Pin option is some missing configuration in the application itself, that needs to expose this feature?

Forgot to add that I'm on Fedora 28, Plasma 5.13.3.

This seems to be implemented in Plasma 5.24 now.
