Testing the newly released Windows port of KDenLive 16.12.1 on Windows 7 x4. It is found that kidenlive.exe persists as an active process after quitting the program. What's more, each program session creates a new instance of kdenlive.exe making necessary to go into Task Manager and kill each instance in turn, or reboot Windows. It also means that nothing can be done with source video files whilst they remain open with a persisting instance of kdenlive.exe. Really annoying ! Another KDenLive Forum member reports the same issue on Windows 10 Pro x64: https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=269&t=138459
I'm seeing this on Win8.1 too. dbus.exe doesn't shut down either, but that might be no problem.
Created attachment 106858 [details] Workaround that closes kdenlive.exe under Windows I'm also having this issue with kdenlive-17.04.3. In order to cope this issue, I did a vbscript that kills kdenlive before starting it. When the user closes kdenlive, it will be killed as well. I know it is not a solution, but it works until the developers come with a solution.

I just found an error in one of the comments of my script. I wrote: 'This loop will run until the started kdenlive status is 0 (running), then 'it will exit when the status is 1 (finished); at this point, the process 'shouldn't be visible on the task list; however, it will remain there :-( But it should be: 'This loop will run **while** the started kdenlive status is 0 (running), then 'it will exit when the status is 1 (finished); at this point, the process 'shouldn't be visible on the task list; however, it will remain there :-( It is a just a comment, so, I won't upload a new attachment at this point
Can confirm, the same is happening in 17.04.3 on Windows 10.
Version 17.12.0 is still affected. Apparently, the bug 380854 fixed this, but a reverse commit was made: https://cgit.kde.org/kdenlive.git/commit/?id=0a12e90cb55e27be72109629dd3836873ad4cca2
I'm using version 17.12.0 on Windows 10 and I'm not affected by this problem anymore.
Windows 7 64 bits Version 18.04.1 Still affected.

I checked on another computer and a virtual machine, both with the same OS (Windows 7 64 bits) and the first is updated while the second has absolutely no updates. Both Kdenlive are successfully closed (except “dbus-daemon.exe”, but this seems intended), it is very strange.
Created attachment 114336 [details] Kdenlive-kill Issue known. Solution to be found. Workaround: run attached batch file before you start Kdenlive or after you close it.
This is solved in the meantime. Latest with Kdenlive version 20.04.
