Description dutchkind 2017-01-19 15:29:48 UTC
In the latest Plasma workspace the printer quality options disappeared. This seems to me as a mayor regression, now I have to handle print quality via the cups management or other ways, needing to enter passwords etc. Another item that was removed is, for duplex printing, where it used to tell which of the duplex options was the default one. Now it has become a trial and error to get it right.

These were mayor features for any office work, could we please get them back?!

Hi,
I just moved to Kubuntu 17.10 and I can confirm this major inconvenience, as apparently some other users.

It seems to be a Qt bug as I found this report : https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-54464
This reports seems to mention that the problem has found a solution and that this solution will be included in next spring qt version. I'm not able to work this out by myself but this is a really annoying issue and I don't like much the idea of waiting 6 more months with it.

Any chance someone could build an official update with a patch?

Thanks in advance for your work and any answer...

What do you mean with official? The fix in Qt will be distributed starting with Qt 5.11, any backport for an earlier Qt version is not official, but on the distribution's own risk.

Anyway, I suggest to ask your distribution for a backport, it should even apply to the Qt 5.9 versions (openSUSE already ships those).

Closing, as it has been resolved upstream.
