It would be nice to have a filter bar or a method of filtering-as-you-type when opening a folder view widget. Suppose I have a widget that opens folder X which contains a lot of files. It would be nice after opening/focusing the folder view widget if one could start typing to filter for the desired file.
Nice idea. Are you interested in working on that, perhaps?
Unfortunately not, as I'm just a lowly user with no spare time (except to report wishes and bugs).
No problem, thanks! :)
Sounds like you would be better off just navigating to ~/Desktop in Dolphin and using its own built-in filter feature.
(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #4) > Sounds like you would be better off just navigating to ~/Desktop in Dolphin > and using its own built-in filter feature. I don't see why. I have numerous folder widgets in my panel with a lot of files, and it's way faster to pop it open and find a file by filtering than navigating to dolphin, opening the file, potentially moving the window to the correct virtual desktop, etc.
One more thought: klipper and the wifi widget both have a nice search bar in the header. Would be nice to see this coem to the folder widget for filtering files.
I can see the utility for the widget version. Less so for the desktop containment version. :)
I somehow had not even thought about the desktop version! Can a widget possess a certain property on the desktop but not the panel?
Yep. :)
