Description Norbert Blobel 2017-01-05 14:14:26 UTC
Serval times a day I need to run akonadictl restart. This is due to Kmail not displaying emails or not moving emails to other folders.

Since KDE4, Kmail and Kontakt have not been working properly.

I therefore request to allow the use of Kontakt / Kmail without the use of Akonadi as you do not manage to make it work.

Kind Regards

Norbert, thanks for your report. I'm afraid it won't happen, though, unless some extremely motivated new developers show up. Akonadi is deeply rooted in the PIM apps.

However, you might want to try a (much) more recent version of the KDE PIM suite. KDE PIM 4.14 has been unsupported since August 2015, and a huge amount of bugs has been fixed since then.

Hi Denis,

LOL, extremely motivated developers.
I am afraid they are needed regardless. Since KDE PIM 4.x.x Kontakt, Kmail and Akonadi have not been working properly. In fact, KDE PIM has been destroyed. It just does not work properly. Now, just look at OpenSuSE Leap 42.2 with kmail5. The mailing list is full with complaints. People are fed up.

I considered upgrading to leap 42.2. But since the kmail nightmare continues with kamil5, I wont.

Under Leap 42.1 I have a "workable" Kmail/Kontakt. But I all honesty, I am growing increasingly tiered of a bodged KDE which can't get its act together.

If anything, a migration to a new email client/PIM/Desktop is on order.

I've been using KDE since SuSE 7.1

Kind Regards
