The "references" dialog is pretty minimalist, I'd prefer to have references aside my canvas-would be so useful if you need to study details - and much less abstract as to pick only color sample from a (relatively small) dialog.
You can select multiwindow mode and show more than one image side by side in the Krita window. Doesn't that work for your usecase?
(In reply to Boudewijn Rempt from comment #1) > You can select multiwindow mode and show more than one image side by side in > the Krita window. Doesn't that work for your usecase? I see, yes this is a kind of workaround - As a second thought, maybe it is easier to introduce a split-screen, to keep everything together ?
I'm working on this: https://phabricator.kde.org/T5805
Please check out this great reference: https://www.pureref.com/
I like a Spartan UI. therefore I added all tools I need in a column on the right side and the reference dialog as column on the left. Unfortunately it's not possible to scale the image inside the reference dialog with hot keys like shift and mouse wheel. And it isn't possible to collapse the docked reference-dialog by double-clicking on the handler on the right side of the dialog.
I write it down here as the reference dialog is still under re-construction. Please make the next "reference dialog" remember our last used path. So ideally, Krita would open with the references right from startup without to ask us to navigate-dig again in (sometimes deep) folder structure Thanks
Would be great if references could be dragged into the main window, if necessary
Works is going on in the pentikainen/T5805-reference-images git branch.
Another thing. Krita seems to load reference paths just at startup. If something changes inside the loaded paths, like a folder with pictures added, krita seems to ignore the changes inside the loaded path
The basics have been implemented now and will be released with krita 4.1
