in "sound and notifications" > "advanced settings" > "notifications access"
there is only "kdeconnect"

my default sms app is "Messenger"

android kdeconnect 1.6.1
linux kdeconnect 1.0.3

i still receive 2 notifications, one from google message and one from kdeconnect.

the one from keconnect get a "reply" button but vanished too rapidly.

Possible solution: In the KDE Connect app on Android, go to the "Plugin settings" menu then the options for Notification sync. Unselect your SMS app (in my case: Textra). Make sure the "Send SMS" and "Telephony notifier" options are CHECKED in plugin settings.

where is problem?
in case you don't use the native sms/mms messaging app but another one
when installing kdeconnect then in kdeconnect settings only native sms/mms messaging app is unchecked in the list of apps managing sms/mms.

installation of kdeconnect must unchecked all sms/mms messaging apps.

I have recently run into this problem. I had a sony phone running a version of Marshmallow that worked flawlessly, interestingly it worked using textra.

A few months ago I switched to the Galaxy S8, which does comes with a custom messaging app only. I noticed at first that I would only get the notification to respond occasionally; until recently when I stopped receiving the notification that allowed me to reply altogether.

This appears to be linked to bug 373158 where a Nexus 5 was reported as having this issue, as the Nexus 5 only has a custom messaging app. So it would appear that this has been a long standing issue.

If there is a work around that would be great. A fix would be better.

NOTE: Android V 7.0 on Samsung Galaxy S8, KDE Connect Android Version 1.6.6, Arch Linux kdeconnect v 1.0.3-1
