Description alexander 2016-12-15 16:36:21 UTC
Animation preview doesn't stop when you click on a frame on the Timeline while the animation is playing.

It should stop the animation preview, as when you click on a frame, it means that you want to edit it.

That behavior is present in many other animation tools like Adobe Flash/Animate.

Hi Alexander,

I agree, this is the way the timeline should work. It's just not implemented yet...

Though I must say, I kinda like that for now we can change the selected frame range loop on the timeline while playing without stopping the playback.

I agree with Tim a bit that the way it works now is how I would like it. It should start at the start. It sounds like this might be a feature request to have two ways to play something: start at current position, and start at start

There could be a dropdown Preference for it like,

"When Timeline is clicked while playback is on:"

- Pause playback
- Restart playback
- Replay from selected frame til the end

I agree with tim and really like that we can change the range selection while the playback is happening.

Could maybe be an option in the settings? but i wouldnt want this to be changed

I think the consensus here is we don't want to get rid of the ability to select and change the loop region during playback.

Also, Eoin and I added a pause button to the Animation Timeline Docker transport controls that make it pretty easy to stop playback on a specific frame, which hopefully should make it relatively easy to stop your animation and add a new keyframe by feel.

I'm going to close this wishlist item for now.
