The new version of the user edition iso (24-Nov-2016 11:44), as well as the developer edition (25-Nov-2016 12:16) will not boot after the installation is done. it only boots into a grub command line with the headline: gnu grub version 2.02 beta2-36ubuntu3.2 and text under it: minimal BASH-like line editing is supported. for the first word, tab lists....... repaired the grub with grub-repair, but still it wont boot. downloaded the iso 3 times and installed it 3 times to check if download was broken, but still the same result. tested other iso´s like kubuntu and linux mint 18 kde. they both work fine.
i just did an install without internet/downloading updates during install and without installing third party software. then i got the error message that it wasnt able to install grub into the target so the operating system wont be able to boot. i think that is the problem
Experienced exactly the same problem with the latest iso i.e neon-useredition-20161124-1018-amd64.iso
i have found a work around viewtopic.php?f=309&t=134976&p=361816#p361816 but most likely instead of sda2 its sda1, you can use gparted or partitionmanager to figure it where your efi is mkdir efi sudo mount /dev/sda1 efi/ sudo cp efi/EFI/neon/* efi/EFI/ubuntu/
I can also confirm the same problem on a completely fresh UEFI install, no dual boot, no secure boot. The fix of moving files from neon to ubuntu worked.
should be fixed when new version of ubiquity lands
