Description Joe Herrmann 2016-11-21 13:29:18 UTC
If an MP3 file has 'Artist' and 'Album Artist' tags and there content is equal, in the playlist both tags are displayed as being empty.

Reproduce:
Add to your playlist layout the fields 'Artist' and/or 'Album Artist', add an MP3 file to the playlist, edit the MP*'s tags 'Artist' and 'Album Artist' and enter the exactly equal string. Save your change and ... the place where the artist and/or album artist should be displayed remains empty

Where do you add the fields (Head, Body, single?), which layout variation do you use?
Comment 2 Joe Herrmann 2016-11-22 09:46:07 UTC
As the logic of the body fields is not really intuitive for me (no
form help) I added first the Artist field and later also the Album Artist field to all 3 possible body fields and got the above described result.

Adding now these fields to the header line I found out that they displayed the content of these tags as they should in the body fields.

Before you ask, I found this and added it:

Not sure if I understand comment #2 correctly. Does it mean the issue is not really present and this ticket can be closed?
Comment 4 Myriam Schweingruber 2016-12-17 12:23:58 UTC
Well, I do understand it that way, and I can display all information needed by tweaking the layout.
It is true that there should be some help for the layout management, but we rely on community help for this at https://userbase.kde.org/Amarok/Manual/References/MenuAndCommandReference/Playlist#Playlist_Layouts
