Shared-mime-info 1.7.1 doesn't show RAR MIME type in the .rar archives icons. With version 1.6.2 there is RAR sign in the icon. With shared-mime-info 1.7.1 there is nothing, but blank space. Here you are sample screenshots. http://i67.tinypic.com/3127nee.jpg http://i65.tinypic.com/35k8oyx.jpg
But can you open rar archives with Ark?
Yes, I can open them without any problems. This bug is for missing text "rar" only. There aren't other problems :)
Ok thanks. @breeze/oxygen devs: both the breeze and oxygen icons are missing a application-vnd.rar link pointing to the application-x-rar icon. This is necessary to support the new rar mimetype (application/vnd.rar) that was introduced by shared-mime-info 1.7

Hello, the bug is still here and never gets fixed since I filed the bug. I have to hold shared-mime-info package version 1.6-2. Only then it works as intended. Please fix it :)

I was going off of the desciption of this bug "missing ... icon", it is no longer missing. So, to me, this bug is fixed. That said, indeed, the icons that were added in the commit below does not include any inscription. I'm not sure that can be considered a bug or not. For posterity, please attach screenshots to the bug here, relying on external services is not ideal (for example, at least some of your previous links no longer work).

Excuse me but english isn't my native language and for me is difficult to do the things in the proper way. Should this .rar inscription be a wonfix? But previously it has been there and now not. This is the reason I count it like bug.

No, they aren't but with breeze there aren't inscriptions at all.

Hmm, this doesn't seem to fix the bug. The rar archive icons are still lacking a symbol or text in them, as requested here. All the archive icons still are, actually. Are you considering this the intended appearance, Andreas?
It isn't plan to ad rar or any text to the icon. The icon is to know the file type the color to separate files when you have files with the same type in a folder and the filename show the extension. Breeze was always designed to don't have stuff that is available somewhere else and the file extension is available in the filename. So no rar name will be shown at the rar icon. As the rar icon use the same color than tar files I updated the color so that RAR files stand out. No additional change is planned.
