Mint18 Sarah install fails on /sda config manager creates unusable 1MB on front of the disk.

KDE Partition Manager(1.2.1) Mint18-Sarah clears the partition table then creates an unusable 1MB. Partition on the front of /sda notebook SATA-disk.

Reproducible: Always several attempts to make a bootable disk failed.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Use KDE Partition Manager to create a new MBR and then create a /boot node of 100MB & a /root node of 30gb with 2k-swap space with Sarah installer.
2. use gdisk to unmount all disk except USB-Sarah.
disk.
3. Create a new partition, or edit the disk with KDE Partition Manager to create a bootdisk.
4. Verify with gdisk that the MBR is changed.

Actual Results:
The new partition table is created.

Expected Results:
Allows the user to setup any partition size for the linux /boot disk.

This bug makes the computer unbootable. My experience is that the new "KDE Partition Manager" is buggy with Frameworks 5.23.0. Perhaps it's a new release bug. It creates an unusable 1MB parition on the front of my disk when a new partition table is created see my snapshot. Everything works fine with Kubuntu 15 using ver Frameworks 5.10.0 on KDE Partition manager version1.2.1. Look at my photo closely. I did not manually create the 1MB partition. It was created by the KDE partition manager (ver 1.2.1) Because the same version is used for both kubuntu & mint18 I expect a change took place in the frameworks (5.23.0-vers5.10.0) that broken the installer for grub1.99. I have not tried it for grub2.0 since I have no tool for that.

Workaround:

Using Kubuntu15.2 (ver: 1.2.1 (frameworks 5.10.0) i was able to create a usable partition on my internal SATA-disk. I reinstalled Kubuntu without any error.

PCI Information:

Yes hardware is old. I know.

Mint18 Sarah kernel: 4.4.0-21-generic #37-ubuntu SMP x86_64 GNU/linux

NO backtrace information available. This is not a crash report. After rebooting user gets an error "No boot disk found"

That's not KDE Partition Manager. This seems to be Ubiquity installer.

By the way, there is always almost 1 MB of free space before the first partition in order to align partition boundaries. It might not be displayed in some partition managers though.

E.g. MBR takes the first sector. So you need to skip another 2047 sectors in order for new /boot partition to start at 1MB boundary.
