There are two separate issues:

1) I can not see messages that were sent to me when I was offline. Also, there is no way of looking at chat history if the chats didn't happen from here.

2) Is group chatting, which is possible in Hangouts, not supported? Pidgin has this through a plugin that uses Google's proprietary hangouts protocol.

I added my google account through KDE Online Accounts.
