Description Vylaern 2016-10-19 21:33:55 UTC
After rendering I have remaining time 00:00 and nothing happens, cannot start any new rendering as it says there is still the old one.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Any project
2. Rendering
3.

Actual Results:
Finished rendering

Expected Results:
Still rendering at 00:00

Cannot start any new rendering, as is waiting for old one at 00:00. Sometimes it finish, but have always extra .txt file (like for unfinished rendering).
Comment 1 Peter 2016-10-19 22:27:54 UTC
I believe this could be a symptom of kdenlive_render crashing, #371234. I noticed the same thing.
Comment 2 Vylaern 2016-10-20 08:10:49 UTC
Yes, looks similar, but in my case I have a ready output file (eg. movie.mp4) which I could watch. also have text file filename.mp4.txt. I use stable Gentoo with ~amd64 kdenlive and related packages.

In compare to 16.08.1 version I have identical rest of the system & packages. Downgrade to 16.08.1 solved the problem form. I also asked on Gentoo bug-list to bring us back 16.08.1 version (as it is no longer in portage).
Comment 3 Peter 2016-10-20 08:26:23 UTC
Those are the same symptoms.

I am using archlinux and cannot reproduce. I think this is a gentoo issue. Which version of MLT do you have?
Comment 5 farid 2016-10-28 03:34:48 UTC
Sorry for the previous message, I actually reproduce this in archlinux.

More symptoms:
- sometimes the rendering stop with some second remaining, e.g. 00:01, 00:06, 00:24, etc. It seems that with longer projects, the stop time can be larger.
- I render to MP4. Sometimes the produced file is playable (in VLC), sometimes it isn't, with errors like:
AVC: nal size 65536
no frame!
- This happens frequently (>50%), but not always.
- I don't know if it depends on the project being rendered or if it's random.
- I run Debian testing release, which has Kdenlive 16.08.2 and

video file to be used in reproducing the bug

I am running into this occasionally (perhaps 50% of the time I render). Here is how to reproduce:
1. Import the attached video into the project bin, then put it on a video track (I put mine on "Video 1").
2. Click "Render" and for the format, select Generic -> WebM and keep the default options.
3. Click "Render to File".

Result: If it tells you that rendering is completed, clear the job and render again, opting to replace the file when prompted. On my system, it only takes 2-3 renders before the render eventually stalls at 99% completed.

If you check the end of the rendered video's accompanying text file, it will say that rendering was finished, and the video file seems to be complete. However, the "unfinished" job will be hung up in Kdenlive's queue, unresponsive to any requests to end or abort the render.

When running Kdenlive from the command line, there is no difference in terminal output between a successful and a stalled render.

I was able to repro this bug in the following configurations that I tested:
#1, via KDE Neon repository:
 . Kdenlive 16.08.2
 . KDE Frameworks 5.27.0
 . Qt 5.7.0
 . MLT 6.0.0

#2, via devel AppImage:
 . Kdenlive 16.11.70 (devel)
 . KDE Frameworks 5.27.0
 . Qt 5.7.0
 . MLT 6.3.0

Both of these versions were tested on the following system:
 . OS: KDE Neon 5.8.2 64-bit (Plasma Desktop 5.8.2)
 . PC: HP Pavilion m6-1035dx
. CPU/GPU: AMD A10-4600M APU with Radeon HD 7660G Graphics (using xorg radeon driver)
 . RAM: 6GB DDR3 800 MHz
 . Linux Kernel: 4.4.0.45-generic

I have tried to do this for 6 times and nothing happens. This is fixed in the 16.12 series... so I am closing it. Feel free to reopen it if you reproduce the issue.
Comment 9 farid 2017-03-05 15:51:35 UTC
Note that I am using mlt 6.4.1.
