When hovering the panel, the tooltips for the different elements appear, but they usually have no content and only show an empty frame. By moving between elements sometimes the correct content shows, but usually it doesn't. There is no real pattern recognizable. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Hover application launch icon or task switcher or systemtray icons 2. See the tooltip show up 3. The tooltips should show content Actual Results: Tooltips are empty (see attached screenshot) This is in a virtual machine under Parallels. But I also have seen it on native installations. It used to work reliable with older Plasma versions, although I can't pinpoint when it stopped working.
Created attachment 101621 [details] Screenshot showing the problem
Is there anything in the console output of plasmashell? Also would it be possible to run: "apitrace trace plasmashell" and attach the resulting log (note, this is basically a video of the session, so don't have anything private open).
@Cornelius Schumacher is this bug still valid for you?
Sorry for not responding earlier. Missed the follow-up. Yes, I still do see the problem. I don't have apitrace here. Where can I get it? I also don't see any output from plasmashell. Any particular place I should look for it?

You should be able to find apitrace in your distro repos. > I also don't see any output from plasmashell. Any particular place I should look for it? One way to see plasma's terminal output is to run "plasmashell --replace" in a terminal. Again, can you confirm that this bug still exists? I wasn't able to reproduce it.
Me neither.
After several updates of the underlying OS and Plasma I don't see the issue anymore. I'll close the report now.
