Put system into RAM suspend from the taskbar, wait several hours and wake up system. I see a black screen with a mouse pointer that I can move around, nothing else. I am unable to login my system and forced to do a cold reboot. Using Kubuntu 16.04.01 KDE Plasma: 5.5.5 Qt Ver: 5.5.1 Kernel: 4.4.0-43-generic Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1.
My system is set to request a password to login, so could be issues with login screen or window system, note the mouse is visible and responds to mouse moves.
Does pressing Shift+Alt+F12 when you get the black screen show you the desktop again?
Next time this happens, I will do what you suggested and report back.
Christoph, this does not help, happen again and I was forced to cold reboot. I suspect is has to do something with the session managed when, "Lock screen on resume" is selected.
Thanks for the information. Unless we have more information, let's assume it is the same bug as reported earlier. It might be a driver issue, please see bug 370352 comment #1. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 370352 ***
