After upgrading from Kubuntu 16.04 to 16.10, Kaffeine does not minimize to systray anymore. After finishing the upgrade, the systray icon was hidden. I forced it to be shown with the systray settings. Then the systray icon is shown as long as Kaffeine is running, but minimizing the Kaffeine window does not remove its entry from the taskbar. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start Kaffeine. It uses an entry on the taskbar as any other application does. 2. Minimize the Kaffeine window. Its entry on the taskbar remains. 3.
What Kaffeine version are you using? There was an issue like that on Kaffeine 2.0, but it was solved on one of the Kaffeine 2.x fixups.

Ah, you want to hide it from the taskbar! Ok, I implemented it, but I opted to use a different mechanism, as, at least for me, I found useful to keep showing kaffeine minimized on my taskbar. The way I implemented, if you double-click at the Kaffeine icon at the systray, it will minimize. If you double-click again, it will show. Feature implemented on patch: https://commits.kde.org/kaffeine/4b417532df4e40f8f3a67efcebd54d32e0c4ddd2
