Description slav 2016-10-14 15:24:58 UTC
After upgrade to new version Plasma 5.8.1 with Auto Login enable I loosing task bar and new Plasma wallpaper come as default.

I notice 2 things:

1. When I logoff and login on current Plasma session all back to normal as before (taskbar and my favourite wallpaper)
2. When disable Auto Login in System Settings > Startup and Shutdown > Login screen (SDDM) > Breeze > tab Advanced > Auto Login off, then after pop up log in screen task bar and my favourite wallpaper appearing without issues

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. tried with new user
2. tried disable all widgets and switch off autorun software like: conky, dropbox etc
3. tried play with different settings, do not save current session, change breeze desktop to another, disable compositor, change splash screen from none to another

Actual Results:
At this moment changed to get KDE user login prompt widow before load Plasma session and after login I'm able to get all taskbar and my customized desktop the same as in KDE Plasma 5.7.

Expected Results:
The same as in previous version of Plasma KDE Plasma 5.7

When trying to change over System Settings > Startup and Shutdown > Login screen (SDDM) > tab Advanced there is no action when trying to change Cursor Theme (program only remember Breeze).

After 1'st solution when with broken desktop choosing logout (with mark Autologin and Relogin after quit in KDE settings) I notice error appearing in task bar:

Application: kdeinit5 (kdeinit5), signal: Segmentation fault

Not sure is related but also found error in xorg-session.log

startkde: Starting up...
Cannot find 'org.kde.KSplash.setStage' in object /KSplash at org.kde.KSplash
Could not open korgac using a library: Cannot load library libkdeinit5_korgac: (libkdeinit5_korgac: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory)

is 5.8.0 or 5.8.1? (have 2 different versions indicated in version field and comment)
it shouldn't matter with autologin, it's probably https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=369665 but in that case should be fixed in 5.8.1
Comment 4 slav 2016-10-18 12:30:43 UTC
problem begin after upgrade to 5.8.0 and still exist in 5.8.1
found temporary solution: added plasmashell in Autostart > Desktop file
