Description snair 2016-10-12 16:29:56 UTC
In the Menu Windows -> Configure - KDevelop:

Selecting a Schema (e.g. Breeze Dark) and then clicking Use KDE Color Scheme overwrites the Breeze Dark with KDE Color Scheme. I cannot get back the Breeze Dark again!

You already have a scheme called KDE, so I do not understand why you need this button?

I tried re-installing, but cannot get back Breeze Dark scheme after it got overwritten with KDE.

Please advice if you have a solution.

Thanks,
Sujith

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Navigate to Windows -> Configure - KDevelop
2. Select a Schema (e.g.Breeze Dark)
3. Hit the KDE Color Scheme betton.

The above steps will kill the Breeze Dark color schema and I cannot get it back.

Expected Results:
I do not see a use for the KDE Color Scheme button when you have it as a drop-down menu option.

Need to be able to restore the Breeze Dark scheme

Confirmed. Something fishy going on there. This is a KTextEditor bug, though.

A workaround that I've found was to remove the two files
    ~/.kde/share/config/kateschemarc
    ~/.config/kateschemarc

Perhaps your kateschemarc is located elsewhere, such as under ~/.kde4
Search for it (them)!
and replace it (them both) by copying the default kateschemarc that should be located in /usr/share/config

I found the solution at http://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/209623/how-to-reset-kate-default-color-schemes -- credit where credit is due.

Can you try if you have any issues with the current nightly installers for Windows on https://kate-editor.org/get-it ?
