Clip monitor and project monitor remain blank.
When starting up from command line, I get the following:

Looks like the packaging needs work!

Expected Results:  
Monitor show selected clip/project.

Please report distribution packaging issues with the appropriate distribution, unless your are installing from Kdenlive ppa's. If you installed from them, check with latest master version, and reopen report only if problem is still present in master Kdenluve ppa. Thank you very much for your cooperation.
