In Plasma 5.8.0 the Activities Manager now only shows totally blank black thumbnails for each of my Activities, not their actual Wallpapers. Before the recent Update Manager update of the OS, in 5.7.5 the A/M correctly showed the wallpaper thumbnails for each Activity. ................................................................................................................................................................. Are you using normal images as wallpapers?

Yes, just the std wallpapers already available in Maui by default, + some others downloaded via the std kde tool "Get new wallpapers...". I created a new user, created therein a 2nd Activity, & switched back & forth between the two. The A/M's thumbnails stayed blank black for both, just like in my "real" user account, & also in a VM for testing. As i said originally, this fault was NOT present in 5.7.5; it came with 5.8.0. Good luck -- i do hope you can identify & solve the root cause.
I've installed Maui in a virtual machine and upgraded to 5.8. This issue is caused by mixed files from different versions. Namely, /usr/share/default-settings/plasma5-profile/plasma/shells/org.kde.plasma.desktop/contents/activitymanager is from an old Plasma version, while the backend is new.
