While multi screen support has always been complicated on Plasma 5, with the 5.7.x releases it more or less worked. After updating to Plasma 5.8.0 the multi screen support is completely broken. After every restart, logout, lid closing or removing of a screen, all configurations are lost and the standard desktop configuration is applied to the screens. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Unlocking/Restarting/Disconnecting Screen/Closing lid 2. Unlocking session 3. All parameters are lost + taskbar behaviour is unpredictable and mostly completely disappears. Actual Results: The screen configuration is lost and I'm presented the standard desktop, with standard wallpaper, etc. The taskbar is randomly jumping from one screen to an other without any clear pattern. Expected Results: Widgets, desktop wallpaper and all parameters should be remembered. Please let me know what information you need to investigate.
Can you please post ~/.config/plasmashellrc and ~/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc ?
I can confirm this on Maui Linux. After upgrade to 5.8 I have no taskbar and default desktop.
@Daniel, can you post the files mentioned in Comment #1?

This bug seems related I think: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=369665
Added all updates to Maui Linux as of today. Dual monitor still doesn't work. Have tried laptop without external monitor attached and that works perfectly.
this should be fixed in 5.8.2 (as i'm pretty sure is a duplicate of #369665) should be tested again with updated packages and eventually closed
This bug is still present in 5.8.2
Updated to Plasma 5.8.2 and everything else today. No difference regarding this bug. No Kicker, no taskbar, default wallpaper on both screens.

Plasma 5.8.3, problem persists.
I can confirm this. I installed Plasma 5.8.3 (Arch linux) this weekend on a computer's friend with a dual monitor setup and on every start of the Plasma session, the dual monitor configuration is messed up. Sometimes the screen are inverted (wallpapers and widgets on the other monitor), sometimes it's only the secondary monitor's configuration that gets reset. Typing "killall plasmashell && plasmashell" sometimes fixes it, but most of the time it does not.
Some information complement : my friend's computer uses a Radeon card with the free radeon driver (Radeon HD 7750, xf86-video-ati)
Still present in 5.8.3 and even worth: the external monitor stays black. Windows can be moved to this second screen but no right clic is working. If I try to close the lid of my laptop, the taskbar disappears, the screen goes black and everything crashes and I have to restart.
