Hello, I work with digiKam 5.2.0 on a Win 7 system. As far as I understand the digiKam documentation digiKam stores all its data - thumbnails included - inside of database files. But in directory c:\user\USER\.thumbnail\large I found lots of *.png thumbnails. In case of digikam (or showfoto) do not need these cached files within the next session, for a better housekeeping it would be very helpful to delete these file atleast at end of a session. In case of digikam (or showfoto) need the files in its next session these thumbnail should be stored in a subdirectory of database directory (selected by user). Thanks in advance and Best regards Herb Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Work with digikam and/or showfoto with images newly found inside an album. 2. Look at directory c:\user\USER\.thumbnail\large 3.
I'm sure. These files are not generated by digiKam. Try to remove it and restart digiKam, just to be sure. Gilles Caulier
Hello, thanks for your quick reply. I was very sure that these files are created by digiKam, because the string digikam is part of the filename. The files are created by showfoto: I started showfoto, opened a directory with 8 *.jpg images and closed showfoto. Now I found 32 files in directory c:\user\USER\.thumbnail\large. A typical filename is as follows: 6baabcf91d28667d3c72293b43499e06.png-digikam-ER2644.png Best regards Herb
Well for Showfoto, it's normal. Showfoto do not support database and use freeDesktop standard to generate thumbnails. Gilles Caulier
