Hi, I was not sure where to file this report, so please move it to the right component if necessary.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. $ kcmshell5 colors
2. Click Defaults
3. Click Apply

Actual Results:

Expected Results:
Windows and plasma panels should still be visible.

I'm using Xorg, I had Breeze (non dark) as default theme set.

Note that neither 'killall plasmashell; plasmashell' nor 'kwin_x11 --replace' helped.

However, I was able to workaround the bug by running 'kcmshell5 kcm_lookandfeel' and switching the breeze style (e.g. from Breeze to Breeze Dark or viceversa).

Forgot to say that this happens on a laptop with Intel graphics and modeset driver... not sure if related. I can try on another machine with closed nvidia drivers.

This affects all applications, not only the shell, so the bug is in the code that applies the colors.

I can reproduce in a Neon 5.8 live VM, but I can't with an old Neon 5.7 iso.
So this could be a regression in the rewritten kcm shipped by Plasma 5.8

I've seen this bug and another one that I introduced without spotting it. Working on a patch.
