Press Menu, then select 'Switch User' 3. Create new session and login the same user (session 2) 4. Close this session (session2) 5. Try to lock session (session 1) Actual Results: Appears a black window says 'The screen locker is broken and unlocking is not possible anymore. In order to unlock switch to a virtual terminal (e.g. Ctrl+Alt+F2), log in and execute the command: loginctl unlock-sessions. Afterwards switch back to the running sesion (Ctrl +Alt+F7)' Expected Results: KDE must show normal unlock dialog Ask for additional information

@Kai: any idea why switching the session breaks the lock screen?
I have the same problem on multiple computers running kubuntu.
What are you using instead of systemd? consolekit? Something else?
