When I open kmail an select an email in the message list no text is displayed. Even when i double click on it no text is displayed. The only way to list the emails text is to press the edit button. When you perform a search which ctrl+f kmail crashes. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. select an email in the message 2. no text of the message is displayed 3. perform a search and kmail crashes Actual Results: No text is displayed Expected Results: Should see the content of the email
I can confirm this issue with the latest stable kmail2 from Arch Linux. There is no way to show a message (besides editing it). It seems that QWebEngine is crashing: Received signal 4 ILL_ILLOPN 7f6f9f501fd0 #0 0x7f6f9f97f43e <unknown> #1 0x7f6f9f97f819 <unknown> #2 0x7f6f9cf150b0 <unknown> #3 0x7f6f9f501fd0 <unknown> #4 0x7f6fa0357110 <unknown> #5 0x7f6fa0357501 <unknown> #6 0x7f6fa0355f1c <unknown> #7 0x7f6fa035657c <unknown> #8 0x7f6fa0b2844a <unknown> #9 0x7f6f9f002c4e <unknown> #10 0x7f6f9efd863f <unknown> #11 0x7f6fa0b3f579 <unknown> #12 0x7f6f9efa2982 <unknown> #13 0x7f6f9f6ba4a2 <unknown> #14 0x7f6f9f6d5ebf <unknown> #15 0x7f6f9f6dad31 <unknown> #16 0x7f6f9f6cc4dd <unknown> #17 0x7f6f9e8f6630 <unknown> #18 0x7f6f9f602514 <unknown> #19 0x7f6f9f9f3ed9 <unknown> #20 0x7f6fa00592c9 <unknown> #21 0x7f6fa0059b2c <unknown> #22 0x7f6f9f9f3ed9 <unknown> #23 0x7f6f9f99d2a8 <unknown> #24 0x7f6f9f99df19 <unknown> #25 0x7f6f9f99e3e2 <unknown> #26 0x7f6f9f9a0409 <unknown> #27 0x7f6f9f9b26a4 <unknown> #28 0x7f6f9f99c635 <unknown> #29 0x7f6f9f6f0490 <unknown> #30 0x7f6f9eb422fe <unknown> #31 0x7f6f9eb427c9 <unknown> #32 0x7f6f9eb40df9 <unknown> #33 0x7f6f9dfcb2f4 QtWebEngine::processMain() #34 0x0000004006d3 <unknown> #35 0x7f6f9cf02291 __libc_start_main #36 0x00000040072a <unknown> r8: 0000000000000000 r9: 0000000000000020 r10: 0000000000000022 r11: 0000000000000206 r12: 0000000001480fd0 r13: 0000000000020000 r14: 0000000001480280 r15: 00007ffc82331190 di: 0000223b8ed81000 si: 000000000001e000 bp: 0000000001419b30 bx: 0000000001480fd8 dx: 0000000000000008 ax: ffffffffffffffff cx: ffffffffffffff88 sp: 00007ffc82331000 ip: 00007f6f9f501fd0 efl: 0000000000010286 cgf: 002b000000000033 erf: 0000000000000000 trp: 0000000000000006 msk: 0000000000000000 cr2: 0000000000000000 [end of stack trace] kmail2 16.08.1 plasma 5.8.0 qt5-webengine 5.7.0

Thank you very much for your reply. I'm on openSuse linux. But it seems to work again. Strange behavior. I did a new system update.
