Description rndbit 2016-10-04 12:52:04 UTC
With default configuration (i removed ~/.config/kate*) kate still freezes on startup for about 10 seconds. Window is painted once and application controls are properly visible but window does not repaint during the time application is frozen.

stderr does not print any messages however i captured relevant strace log part: https://paste.kde.org/pqpt5dh1b/obgjlq

I noticed lots of stat() calls to files that were not opened in kate ever. Baloo indexing is not disabled, maybe relevant.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start Kate

Actual Results:
Application freezes for 10s and window is not repainted.

Expected Results:
Application should be usable immediately.
Comment 1 rndbit 2016-10-07 08:26:21 UTC
I noticed that starting kate as root does not produce said behavior.

Hi, very sorry, but can't reproduce that.
Please try a newer version and if you have a way to reproduce, please reopen, thanks!
